伊息赫于公元8世纪出生在布鲁萨。而后他隐退到了马恩山。这里常有魔鬼出入。他在那里搭建了茅舍用以栖身，并盖了一座小教堂以纪念圣徒安德烈。伊息赫又在外围处开垦了一块农田，以自己的劳动自食其力。通过祷告，他行了很多奇迹。他预言，在他死后将在这里建立一座女修道院。在死前一个月他就预言出了自己死亡的日期和时间。在他预言死亡的那一天前夜，有人看见他身居的茅舍散发出了耀眼的光芒。当这些人赶到时，他已经离开了人世。伊息赫于公元790年安静地进入了基督的国度。在他去世后，被埋葬在圣安德烈教堂。后来阿玛塞亚的主教德奥斐拉克特将他的尸体转移到了阿玛塞亚。
