阿伽彼是阿托斯圣山瓦托佩迪修道院的一名初学修士，追随一位教士为师潜心修行。后来，阿伽彼被海盗劫持，并在马格尼西亚将他作为一个奴隶卖掉了。12年后，在圣母的帮助下，他奇迹般地获得了自由并返回了瓦托佩迪修道院。阿伽彼为他原来的主人进行了浸礼，并成了他的属灵导师。之后，阿伽彼继续留在瓦托佩迪修道院中修行，直到归主为止。
