阿颇利纳里斯是小德奥多西皇帝的摄政王安提弥的女儿，原名阿波里纳里亚。她是安提弥的大女儿，她的妹妹患有精神病。阿波里纳里亚内心愿做基督净配，因此不愿结婚，她隐退到了埃及的旷野中。她换上男装，并取男名多若德奥，进入了一所男修道院。在那里，她善度克修生活，不断地举心向上，并在她的创造者前燃以炽爱之焰。有人建议安提弥，将他患有精神病的女儿送到修道院，以便有人替她祈祷。天意如此，这位姐姐籍着祈祷的大能使她的妹妹痊愈。直到公元470年阿颇利纳里斯去世，她的秘密才被揭露：她是一名女子，不是男人。这位神圣贞女的勇敢精神成了万代以来思想自己救恩的很多人的榜样和激励。
