提摩泰在奥林普斯山亚洲部分一个名叫斯姆伯拉的地方过着隐居修行生活。提摩泰在年轻时进入了一座修道院成为一名修士，在年老之际，他以斋戒、祷告、警醒和无止境的劳作度日。他的一生圣洁，正因为如此，上帝赋予了他战胜魔鬼的权柄。通过劳动，提摩泰以使自己获得拯救，并成功地在他内建立了一个美丽的圣灵的居所。提摩泰于公元795年去世。
