撒多克继圣西麦翁之后接任波斯的主教。有一次，圣西麦翁在梦中向他显现，对他说：“昨天，我——今天，你！”撒多克向他的教徒们释解这些话时说：去年——我（圣西麦翁）受难，今年——你（撒多克）将受难。确实，就在那一年，皇帝萨波尔逮捕了撒多克，以及许多教士和信众，将他们带到法庭受审。萨波尔首先要求他们敬拜火和太阳为神。撒多克回答说：“为我们的上帝殉道，我们已经作好了准备，但是我们不能敬拜太阳和火。”之后，这些人都遭受严刑拷打，并被判处了死刑，遭到了斩首。在斩首之前，撒多克向上帝祷告说：“主啊！洁净我们血内深藏的罪恶！”撒多克同众教士、信众慷慨地走向死亡，他们舍弃了自己的身躯，而他们的灵魂进入了上帝永恒的国度之中。他们殉道的时间是在公元342或344年。
