Свети мъченик Антоний бил родом от град Александрия. Той вярвал в Христа и водел богобоязлив живот. Антоний бил заловен и доведен при началника на града. На разпита той се обявил за християнин и започнал смело да проповядва Христа като истинския Бог. Затова той бил повесен на дърво и тялото му било стъргано с железни остриета, но Антоний не се отрекъл от Христа и се съпротивлявал на мъчителите, като търпеливо понасял мъченията. Най-накрая го осъдили да бъде изгорен в огън. Застанал на кладата, той така поучавал присъстващите:
