Преп. Теоктиста, родом от остров Лезбос (Лесбос), постъпила в манастир на 17-годишна възраст. Разбойници разорили манастира, взели със себе си в Парос и монахините, мислейки да ги продадат като рабини. Теоктиста успяла да избяга и като дошла до едно пустинно място на остров Парос, там прекарала 35 години при един запустял храм. Случайно ловци дошли на това място и намерили отшелницата. По нейна молба един от ловците й донесъл св. Причастие. Тя се приобщила със св. Тайни и скоро след това спокойно предала душата си Богу в 881 година.
