През осмия век животът на Христовата църква на Изток бил разстроен от иконоборческата ерес. Повечето от византийските императори от онова време сами били иконоборци, покровителствали иконоборците и издавали постановления и наредби срещу почитателите на светите икони. Защитниците на православното учение били гонени, отстранявани от служение, заточвани и притеснявани по най-различни начини. Поради това мнозина от тях доброволно напускали светския живот, уединявали се в пустинни места и там се предавали на молитва и духовни подвизи. Укрепнали духовно, те отново се връщали в градовете и ставали смели защитници на православното учение.

- To do the annual calendar, display showing the liturgical readings per week

- To do a completely new approach with banners and a small calendars for other sites,
