В същия ден празнуваме и паметта на св. свещеномъченик Маркиан, епископ Сиракузки. Светият епископ Маркиан бе ученик на св. апостол Петър. От Антиохия той дойде в Сиракуза - един от градовете на остров Сицилия, и само със своята молитва разрушаваше идолските капища. Той обърна много хора към Христа и ги направи синове на светлината; и извършваше много чудеса по благодатта на Бога. Св. Маркиан беше убит заради Христа от завист от юдеите (през II в.).
