Ова нова мученица беше родом из Брусе, рођена од родитеља благочесних. Тек што се беше удала за једног хришћанина, загледа се у њу неки Турчин из комшилука, и позиваше је на сажиће са њим. Христољубива Аргира одбијаше такве прљаве предлоге Турчина. Но овај се разбесни и оптужи је суду, како је хтела примити ислам, па после одрекла. Од судије до судије, из тамнице у тамницу, света Аргира проведе пуних петнаест година страдајући за Христа. Јер љубљаше Христа изнад свега у свету. Најзад сконча у тамници у Цариграду 1725. године.
