Той бил роден в Галата в Цариград и отначало се казвал Диаманди. На младини живеел неморално, даже се потурчил. Тогава в него настъпил обрат на горко покаяние и той отишъл на Света Гора, където строго се подвизавал като монах дванадесет години в Лаврата на свети Атанасий. Като желаел мъченичество за очистване на греховете, той отишъл в Цариград. Там започнал да ходи по джамиите, да се кръсти и да вика към турците, че тяхната вяра е фалшива и че Иисус Христос е Бог и Господ. Бил посечен пред портата на Фенер на 13-ти ноември, 1681 г. Мощите му почиват в манастира "Света Троица" в Халки.
