El Santo nació en Laconia y estudio en Alejandría. Luego de terminar sus estudios se retiro a un monasterio donde se destaco en su vida monástica; por sus virtudes y educación alcanzó el trono metropolitano de Cerdeña, tomo parte en contra de lo iconoclastas, del séptimo concilio de Niza (787). Murió desterrado alrededor del año 825
