Im Laufe von 25 Jahren führte er ein Wanderleben, bis er in Syrien in einer tiefen Grube Wohnung nahm, wo er sich unter freiem Himmel bei unablässigem Gebete aufhielt. Er starb um 420, im Alter von 70 Jahren.
