El a refuzat sa semneze un anume document imperial care prevedea interzicerea cinstirii sfintelor icoane. Pentru aceasta Vasile a suferit prigoane mari si tortura. Dar el a ramas pururi tare ca diamantul în Credinta Ortodoxa. El a trecut la cele vesnice la începutul veacului al optulea, înfatisîndu-si sufletul înaintea Domnului.
