Der hl. Stefan der Neue wurde in Konstantinopel geboren, schon als Kind wurde er von seinen Eltern zu dem ehrwürdigen Johannes auf dem Auxentius - Berg gebracht. Der Ehrwürdige Stefan wurde wegen der Verehrung der hl. Ikonen verfolgt und von seinem Kloster auf die Straße verschleppt. Er starb in Folge eines Schlages mit einem Stück Holz, im Jahre 767.
